Interview with Sir James Bruce

What is your strength?

My name is Sir James Bruce, cousin to the rightful king of Scotland, Robert the Bruce. I’m known for my loyalty and strength, but what I’m not known for is my adoration of my enemy’s daughter, Lady Isabel McLaird. Whether I seduce, kidnap her or fight for her, she will be mine.

What is your weakness?

I have two brothers, Jasper and Eoin who I love, but my weakness is for my younger sister, Arabel. She wishes to become a nun but I need her to make alliances for the Bruce cause. As head of my clan, alliances are essential, yet I’m tempted to give in to her pleading to let her join a convent.

What would you like to get on Valentine’s Day?

The love of Lady Isobel McLaird. If she would stop cursing me for the supposed death of her brother, I could achieve this. What she doesn’t know is that her brother lives, albeit wounded. I’ve located him in the king’s dungeon. I plan to surprise her with the news that her brother is safe for I want her to love me as much as I love her.

What would be your perfect date?

After a long ride on my Destier across the highlands, I’ll offer my lady a hot bath. I’ve a tub installed in my castle and I’m well versed in the art of massage.

What are you giving the heroine for Valentine’s Day?

A wedding and a great amount of happiness, for if a wife is not joyous she canna produce sons.
